Our Kids Time Program offers parents peace of mind and offers our students a safe and fun environment in which to spend their after-school hours. Students will have the opportunity to play during the exercise activities, have a snack and even get a jump start on their daily homework.
 
The structure of the after-school program consists of snack time, play time, movie time, quiet/homework time and clean-up time. Kids Time provides an excellent setting for your child to concentrate on his/her homework before they leave the building. During playtime, toys and games will be provided for use by your child(ren). Children will be allowed to play outside during pleasant weather.

• To provide quality before-and-after school enrichment activities for students.

• To provide a structured and safe environment which stresses responsible behavior, respect for others, and reinforces a Christ-like attitude for everyone.

• To provide a caring staff who will interact with students in group and individual settings.

• To provide communication with parents regarding their child’s overall well- being within our program.

Students must be enrolled at St. Thomas More School to participate in the program.

The program will begin each day after school at 3:00 p.m. and will close promptly at 6:00 p.m. The students will be sent directly to the Cafeteria after the school dismissal bell. Activities will include the following: Check-In, Gym/Outdoor Activities (weather permitting), Snacks, Homework/Quiet Time,
Games/Story/Playtime and Clean-Up Time.

Rules

Every child is expected to show respect to the staff and the other children, as well as towards St. Thomas More School property. Violence and bullying of any kind is not allowed. Parent support in enforcing these policies and rules is appreciated.

Snack

Light snacks will be provided to the children each day (examples: crackers, pretzels, fruit or popcorn and milk or water). If your child has specific food restrictions or allergies, please be sure to notify the Kids Time Director.

Staffing 

Kids Time is staffed by a conscientious, caring, and qualified staff. Staff members include a program director, an assistant program director, both of whom are employees of St. Thomas More School, and several alternating high school student aides, many of whom are graduates of STMS. 
 
Both Directors have completed VIRTUS child safety training through the Diocese of Gary. This on-going training equips adults to recognize the signs of possible abuse and neglect, and to inform these adults of the risks of sexual misconduct to students. This training enhances the quality of care and safety for your child.
 

Fees

The fees for this program cover all of the necessary expenses to provide your child(ren) with a fulfilling after-school experience. 
 
Kids Time Hourly Rate: $7.00 for the first child and $5.00 for each additional child
Kids Time will be billed by the quarter-hour ($1.75)
 

Release of Children

Children will be released ONLY to persons who are authorized to pick them up as indicated on the enrollment contract.  Advance written notification is required if someone other than an authorized person(s) will pick up your child.  Phone numbers and a parent/guardian signature must accompany this request and the newly designated person must show a photo ID to sign the child out of Kids Time. Parents are responsible for keeping the authorization list current at all times.
